50% of all unemployed individuals in Slovakia are unemployed long-term, according to the Labour, Social affairs and Family Ministry. "However, the Slovak Statistics Office and Eurostat reported that this ratio is even greater, with three fifths of all unemployed being unemployed long term," said Poštová Banka analyst Jana Glasová. "The Banská Bystrica and Košice regions have the highest number of long-term unemployed, with almost three fifths of their unemployed belonging to this category. Conversely, the lowest number is in the Trnava and Bratislava regions, where it doesn't even reach one third of those unemployed," said Glasová. According to Eurostat numbers, Slovakia has the second highest long-term unemployment rate among EU member states. The country was only passed in this regard by Greece, where around 70% of all unemployed are unemployed long-term.
