The Slovak government approved an 8% tax on general insurance, reported the Public Broadcaster RTVS on Monday. Through this, they seek to obtain money which could be used for anti-flood measures. According to RTVS, the tax will not apply to life insurance. Insurers as well as opposition MPs criticise the new tax and warn that it will lead to an increase in the price of insurance.
