The management and trade union at Volkswagen in Bratislava are heading towards an agreement, said the company's trade union boss, Zoroslav Smolinský, on Thursday. Thus, no further protests by employees of the carmaker are likely to take place in the near future. The VW trade union organized a protest last week. They were displeased with the excessive benefits for new employees, which they found discriminatory for senior workers. "I think we've made headway, as management has accepted some of our points and we're jointly preparing measures to support senior employees," said Smolinský. He also added that despite the progress in negotiations, management hasn't admitted to engaging in discrimination.
