Comenius University and Slovak Technical University have made it into the ranking of the best 1,000 Universities in the world published by the Times Higher Education magazine. As the BBC wrote, "the rankings show a mixed picture for European universities, while Asian institutions continue to rise". The Times Higher Education World University Rankings was founded in 2004. According to its website, it "evaluates world-class universities against thirteen separate performance indicators, covering the full range of a top university's essential areas of activity: research; interaction with business; international outlook; and, uniquely, the teaching environment".
