MP Daniel Lipšič leaves parliament after car accident

Daniel Lipšic announced on Thursday that he will resign from his post as an MP for the opposition Ordinary People party as of the end of September. Lipšic, who also worked as Justice and Interior Minister, made this decision following Monday's car accident in which he struck a pedestrian who subsequently died in hospital. "After what happened on Monday, I cannot imagine how I could carry out my job of an MP at full throttle," commented Lipšic on his decision, which, as he said, was his own. As of October 1, Ján Marosz will replace him in the parliament.
