In spite of Wednesday's 1:4 loss against Canada, Team Europe, with six Slovaks on its roster, will advance to the semi-finals at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey. The international squad had clinched its spot in the play-offs even before the match. Against Canada, Team Europe lost its first points at the World Cup. The only European on the scoreboard was Slovak forward Marián Hossa. Thus, Slovaks managed to score one goal in each of the three games of the tournament. Moreover, Slovak goalie Jaroslav Halák has been in the net the entire time so far.
