Bratislava's Old Town mayor, Radoslav Števčík, won't sign the regulation forcing restaurants and pubs in the capital's downtown to close every evening at 10PM. He justified his decision through a legal analysis that has been swiftly carried out on this matter. The Tuesday approval of the regulation by the local councillors caused outrage on social media, with several public figures also voicing their discontent. The restaurant operators argued that the measures would liquidate their businesses. By introducing the restriction, the councillors aimed to prevent crowds of people and noise in the streets, as the current situation disturbs the sleep of people living in the downtown.
