EU Leaders meeting in Bratislava

On Friday, Bratislava woke up to a day of massive traffic restrictions introduced because of an informal summit of EU leaders, which is taking place in the city during the day. "We haven't come to Bratislava to comfort each other or even worse to deny the real challenges we face in this particular moment in the history of our community after the vote in the UK," Donald Tusk, President of the European Council said ahead of the summit. He also urged the EU not to waste a crisis, hoping to set a new course for a project battered by Brexit. Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák highlighted the threat of extremism which is on the rise throughout the entire EU. "It is an alarming trend which has to be stopped. The EU is a great project that brings many good things, but which, however, people take for granted," said Lajčák. To learn more about the Summit, listen to our topical issue.
