Cinematik International Film Festival starts in Piešťany

The 11th annual Cinematik International Film Festival began in the western Slovak town of Piešťany on Tuesday. Over the course of six days, moviegoers will have a chance to watch 78 feature films and 13 mid-sized and short films, said Cinematik PR manager Peter Konečný. The festival will screen 47 feature films that haven't been in Slovak cinema distribution, and most of them will be Slovak premieres. Screened movies will compete in the 'Meeting Point Europe' section and the Slovak documentaries section called 'Cinematik.doc'. This year's edition of the festival focuses on German cinema in the so-called Germany Magnified: Farewell to Yesterday section. Cinematik also offers a rich accompanying program featuring professional discussions, night film quizzes, tea drinking, concerts and much more.
