Investigation into Bribes for Lawmakers to be Stopped

Police will not look into the alleged bribing of lawmakers revealed in so called Gorila file, Special Prosecutor's Office spokesperson Andrea Predajnova confirmed on Sunday.

According to leaked diplomatic cables on the WikiLeaks portal, the Penta financial group persuaded a number of independent lawmakers to lend support to the reform of Rudolf Zajac (which gave control of many health-care facilities to Penta) for a bribe of Sk2 million (app. €66,000) per vote. “Two resolutions on the termination of the criminal prosecution in the case of bribes for lawmakers during the vote on the so-called (former health minister Rudolf) Zajac 'Health Care Acts' are being drafted as we speak,” said Predajnova.
