The beginning of the school year will also bring a change for the Assyrian Christians from Iraq who came to Slovakia at the end of last year. The group is currently composed of 111 asylum seekers who live in the Nitra region. Eight children from the group are about to start attending kindergarten. Nineteen children will take their seats in elementary school. Those children who fall under the category of compulsory education in fact already started attending school during the previous school year. Twelve students showed interest in attending high school and another six want to study at university.
