Slovakia's candidate for the post of UN Secretary General Miroslav Lajčák ended second out of the ten candidates in the third secret straw poll of the UN Security Council. The poll shows preferences of the members of the UN's highest body before the official vote. Lajčák, who is also the Slovak Minister of Foreign and European Affairs ended tenth out of eleven candidates in the second poll at the beginning of August and was in the middle of the pelotone in the first poll which took place in July. The Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Ministry didn't want to comment on the significance of the third unofficial vote. The final election is to take place later in autumn.
