Slovakia lagging behind in terms of smart energy

Slovakia is significantly lagging behind in the topic of so-called smart energy, stated the Economy Ministry in a proposal for the Smart Industry Concept for Slovakia published on Tuesday. According to the Ministry, some partial smart concepts, such as e-mobility and smart cities, already exist and some still need to be created. However, the most important thing is the mutual interconnection and communication of these concepts as a single unit. The ministry said that, first of all, it's important to set up smart grids in Slovakia as the main technical solution for the development of an electrical network that will allow for the integration of smart concepts of production (renewable energy sources and other low-carbon energy sources) and of consumption via more substantial involvement of consumers in the energy market (smart households, smart technologies for consumers, consumption management mechanisms, smart buildings, etc.). The ultimate aim is to produce more efficiently and to be more competitive.
