Hackers attack website of petition against Interior Minister

The server hosting the website of a public petition for the dismissal of Interior Minister Robert Kaliňák (Smer-SD) was attacked by hackers on Sunday afternoon and early on Monday, according to Opposition OLaNO-NOVA party spokesman Dano Mitas, quoted by TASR press agency. Thousands and at times even tens of thousands of IP addresses attacked the server on Sunday with the aim of making it inaccessible. "After a team of experts managed to drive off the attack in the evening, thereby keeping the website in operation, another, even more sophisticated attack came early on Monday morning," said Mitas. Opposition parties OLaNO-NOVA and Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) are calling for Kaliňák's resignation over his alleged links to businessman Ladislav Bašternák, who is accused of major tax fraud.
