Slovak PM Fico talks energy with Russian President Putin

Gas transport capacity through Slovakia will remain unchanged regardless of the future of the planned Nordstream 2 gas pipeline, said Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico after meeting Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Thursday. Nordstream 2 should transport gas from Russia to Germany through the Baltic Sea, thus avoiding Slovakia. However, its fate became uncertain after the Polish Antimonopoly Office blocked its construction this week. The statesmen also discussed reviving trade between the countries, which was influenced by the sanctions imposed by the EU against Russia in reaction the annexation of Crimea. Moreover, Fico and Putin agreed that Slovak scientists will have the chance to work with a particle accelerator at the science center in the Russian town of Dubno.
