Prices of RegioJet’s InterCity trains go up

As of Wednesday, the private railway carrier RegioJet increased the prices of its cheapest InterCity trains in Slovakia. Allegedly, the company is compensating for losses caused by the state-funded free rail transport for students and seniors. "Regiojet was in a 5.5 million loss in Slovakia due to the dumping prices of state run InterCity trains and free trains for students and seniors," said the CEO of RegioJet Radim Jančura. However, the Antimonopoly Office decided at the end of July that the prices of the state company Železničná spoločnosť Slovensko did not misuse its position by introducing dumping prices for its InterCity trains.
