Pensions in Slovakia should grow by minimum of 2% next year, according to an amendment to the Law on Social Insurance approved by the government on Wednesday. According to the Labour and Social Affairs Ministry hike is normally based on the growth of the average salary and also on the year-on-year development of consumer prices. However, as consumer prices declined in the last twelve months, the growth of pensions would be negligible next year. "In order to secure an increase of pensions at a rate which would be accepted by pensioners, pensions will grow by 2% in 2017," suggests the Labour Ministry.
