The Environment Ministry has allocated €1.5 million from the Environmental Fund for building fences around garbage sites in the High Tatras National Park, reported TASR on Thursday. Thus, bears in the High Tatras will no longer have easy access to garbage after many years. "Bears have lost their fear of people and have started to come down even during the daytime. We even had to shoot one female bear," said the director the National Park's administration Pavel Majko. "Shooting the bears which lose their natural fear of man and come to their homes is not an ideal solution. First we need to find preventive measures aiming to eliminate their encounters with people" concluded Environment Minister Lászlo Sólymos.
