Last weekend, around 3,000 people, including Prime Minister Robert Fico, his deputy Peter Pelegrini and war veterans, took part in the 11th annual Meeting of Generations remembering Nazi repressions in the village of Kalište. This village played a crucial role in the Slovak National Uprising against Nazi Germany. In the spring of 1945, Kalište was burned down and its citizens killed after the Wehrmacht suppressed the uprising.
