Foreign Minister Receives New Irish Ambassador

Foreign Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák on Thursday met Irish Ambassador-designate Anne-Marie Callan, who presented her credentials to the minister. Lajčák began by congratulating Callan on Ireland's successful and active European Union presidency in the first half of 2013.

In addition, both diplomats praised the high level of bilateral relations, which were confirmed recently by Lajčák’s participation in a conference on the EU enlargement process and the Western Balkans in Dublin in May. Callan and Lajčák voiced their sincere interest in strengthening bilateral co-operation in terms of the economy, with significant growth witnessed in the volume of trade since 2009. They would also like to see the political dialogue between their two countries intensified in the near future.
