Ground frost is forecast for Friday, August 12, across all regions of Slovakia, warns the Slovak Hydrometeorological Office, which also issued the first-level alert in this regard. Low temperatures might hurt thermophilic plants such as grapes, peppers and other vegetables. The situation is in strong contrast to the second week of August last year, when there was a record number of so-called tropical days - defined as days with the maximum temperature of at least 35 degrees Celsius.
