Slovakia preparing for potential terrorist attacks

Sirens, radio stations and on-site coordination of people are still the favoured methods of alerting the public if a terrorist attack was to occur on Slovak soil. This was reported in the SME daily on Tuesday, outlining what procedures would be put in place in order to warn people and to tackle the threat. The Interior Ministry explained however that it also has far more modern methods at its disposal. The ministry, civil defence as well the fire brigade have each set up Facebook accounts where an alert would be posted immediately after such an attack occurred. The ministry is also pondering introducing a mobile phone app for similar purposes. All emergency workers are taking part in regular exercises concerning how to respond to an extraordinary situation.
