The quality of Slovak roads has significantly declined in the past ten years, reads an analysis of the state run project called Value for Money. As the Hospodárske Noviny daily wrote, Slovak roads were in the worst state in the year 2012. The analysts claim that continual maintenance is more efficient than sporadic reconstruction of devastated roads. Between 2009 and 2015 almost €800 million was invested in the so-called primary roads construction, modernisation and reconstruction. However, 1,400 kilometres of primary roads still need to be modernized or reconstructed.
