During the first month of the Slovak presidency of the EU Council "Bratislava was visited by almost 1,600 delegates from 45 countries and around 300 journalists from more than 20 countries". As the Slovak EU Council Presidency website eu2016.sk reports, the delegates participated at more than 50 political and special events. Among the major achievements of the Slovak Presidency, its official website lists the agreement between member states of next year's EU budget, and the opening of two chapters in EU accession negotiations with Serbia. Another success was listed as the Bratislava Declaration on Young Researchers, presented by EU ministers in charge of competitiveness.
