Slovakia’s GDP Growth Outlook Raised for this Year

The National Bank of Slovakia (NBS) has revised upward this year’s growth outlook for the Slovak economy. According to its current forecasts published on Monday, real gross domestic product this year should grow by 0.9 percent, which is 0.3 points more than the previous estimate. However, the central bank slightly reduced the GDP growth outlook for the coming years.

Vice Governor of the National Bank of Slovakia Jan Tóth said that the revised outlook for economic growth for the years ahead is primarily based on the positive development of the economy in the second quarter, which exceeded initial expectations. For its forecast, the central bank also took the negative impact of fiscal consolidation into account, as well as lower expectations regarding external demand.
