EU unable to communicate its achievements

The European Union is unable to present even the positive aspects of European integration to its citizens, said Ivan Korčok, Government Plenipotentiary for the Slovak Presidency of the EU Council at an informal meeting of European Affairs diplomats in Bratislava. He stressed that the EU must cease sending messages on who's to be blamed for individual problems. On the contrary, local politicians should speak to the public clearly about the powers which belong to the individual member states. Nonetheless, Brexit has brought about a new situation. "Even positive results are somehow overshadowed by the context of Brexit," said Korčok. The participants at the informal meeting agreed that the EU's priorities in the areas of Energy Union, the digital economy and revival of investments in the environment should not be changed.
