Food industry profits up 18.5% last year

Last year, the Slovak food industry's profits before tax reached €152.3 million, which is an 18.5% increase year-on-year, according to the Agriculture Ministry. In the same period, 68.2% of all companies in the sector recorded profits. Overall added value fell by 1.2%, most notably due to falls in the production of cocoa, chocolate and confectionery. Conversely, added value increased mainly in wine production and meat products.
