Slovakia to help Hungary with EU border protection

Slovakia is ready to help Hungary to defend its external border of the European Union, stated Prime Minister Robert Fico after the summit of the Visegrad Four countries (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia) on Thursday in Warsaw. Fico reacted to a request by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, who asked the V4 representatives for help with protecting Hungary's border with Serbia, which is under pressure from tens of thousands of migrants from Syria and elsewhere hoping to enter the EU. The V4 prime ministers also discussed the upcoming informal EU summit which is to take place in Bratislava in September. They agreed that at this summit they will maintain a joint position on the next course of action after Great Britain leaves the EU and the shared and well-functioning cooperation within the remaining 27 EU countries.
