The number of nurses in healthcare keeps on decreasing, reads an analysis from the Slovak Chamber of Nurses and midwives, presented at its press conference on Friday. This has lead in many cases to the closing of wards in Slovak hospitals. Since 2009, approximately 6000 nurses and midwives have retired and only around 2100 have begun working in the Slovak healthcare system. Moreover, the analysis does not include nurses who have left to work abroad. Nurses have once again called on the authorities to make this job more attractive.
