Great Britain will not begin its official negotiations on leaving the EU this year, announced new UK Prime Minister Theresa May during her meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin on Wednesday. Therefore, the Slovak Presidency of the EU Council, which finishes at the end of this year, will not directly deal with Brexit. As the UK PM noted, she aims to secure a "sensible and orderly departure" from the EU, but wants to retain the "closest economic links" with the Union.
