"Slovakia's task is to ensure the trouble-free financing of missions and operations conducted by the EU," said Slovak Defence Minister Peter Gajdoš after a meeting of the Athena Special Committee on Tuesday. Slovakia being the presiding country of the EU Council, chaired the committee's session for the first time. Among the items on the agenda were budgets for missions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Somalia and the Central African Republic. The Athena Special Committee is made up of representatives of all EU-member states and approves proposals for the budgets of individual EU-led military missions and operations.
