On Wednesday Slovak Economy Minister Peter Žiga and Bulgarian Energy Ministry State Secretary Zhecho Stankov signed a memorandum of understanding concerning the Eastring gas pipeline project. The dual direction Eastring pipeline is a joint project of Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria and Hungary with a planned capacity hovering at around 20-40 billion cubic meters of gas per year. The goal of the project is the diversification of gas routes and of gas sources. Slovak Minister Žiga believes that Hungary and Romania will also join the initiative in the foreseeable future.
