Foreign and European Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák missed yesterday's live televised debate on Al Jazeera involving the candidates competing for the post of United Nations Secretary General. Ten out of the twelve candidates took part, with Macedonian Foreign Minister Srgjan Kerim also being absent. It was the first broadcasting of this kind. Thus, the United Nations is trying to break the mystique that has surrounded the voting process for 70 years. The reason for Lajčák's absence has not yet been announced.
