Prime Minister expects continuity from new intelligence agency director

Prime Minister Robert Fico expects continuity from the new Slovak Intelligence Service director Anton Šafárik, according to the TASR press agency. Šafárik, a nominee of the Slovak National Party, runs a business in the electrotechnics industry and is linked to leaders of the Catholic Church. In 2006 he ran unsuccessfully for the position of Mayor for the Bratislava borough of Petržalka. Vladimír Dolinay, a former councillor in Petržalka, said that Šafárik always joined the side where he could benefit. Ex-Speaker of Parliament Pavol Hrušovský, who cooperated with Šafárik in the Catholic religious Order of Malta, believes he is a good choice for the post.
