The extension of the rental of plots to the US Embassy on Hviezdoslav Square in Bratislava isn't beneficial for the capital, claim the city MPs Martin Borgula and Martin Chren. The US Embassy rents premises in the historical city centre, with the grounds of the building being surrounded by a controversial security fence. The city council decided to increase the rental charge from three cents per square metre per day to one euro. At the same time it was decided that if the embassy presents a permit for constructing new headquarters, the charge will return to three cents.
