Sustainable solutions to migration and the protection of the Schengen area's borders were the main topics of the meeting of Interior Ministers of the EU, the European Free Trade Association countries and EU candidate countries in Bratislava on Thursday. In the upcoming months, the EU will likely strengthen the cooperation regarding migration with the countries of origin and the transit countries, stated Slovak Interior Minister Robert Kaliňák. According to him, Slovakia will try to address, in particular, reforms in the asylum system, the quick implementation of the European Border and Coast Guard to fight illegal migration, and the new Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS). "This will be a new type of travel authorisation for citizens from third countries inbound to the EU", concluded Kaliňák.
