Deputy Speaker of Parliament Lucia Nicholsonová, from the Freedom and Solidarity party, opened the extraordinary parliamentary session of a no-confidence against Prime Minister Robert Fico on Thursday. However, MPs argued over the way it should proceed. Deputy Speaker of Parliament Andrej Hrnčiar, from the ruling coalition, suspended the session, reasoning that the Parliament does not meet the necessary quorum and he was the only one with a mandate to lead the session. Speaker of Parliament Andrej Danko postponed the extraordinary session from Wednesday until Thursday. However on Thursday alongside other MPs he flew to Strassburg, following an invitation of the President of the European Parliament Martin Schultz to discuss the relationship between the Slovak and the European Parliament during the Slovak Presidency of the EU Council. They are also to talk about Brexit and the migration crisis. The Wednesday's no-confidence motion against Interior Minister Robert Kaliňák was postponed until September.
