Nigel Farage scared of responsibility, says Slovak Prime Minister

Nigel Farage, who announced on Monday that he was stepping down as leader of the Eurosceptic UK Independence Party (UKIP) has become scared of responsibility, said Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico after arriving on a working visit to Strasbourg on Tuesday. The reason behind Fico's visit is to present the priorities of the Slovak Council of the EU Presidency to the European Parliament on Wednesday, July 6. "There's nothing more left to say because this is getting ridiculous. To stir up such chaos in Europe and then say "I've achieved everything" and leave, that's quite a strange British sense of humour, but we have to respect it", said Fico. On Monday (July 4), Farage announced that he'd decided to step down as UKIP leader because he's achieved his political goal - to secure Great Britain's departure from the EU. Farage plans to keep his MEP's seat, however, in order to be able to supervise negotiations concerning the terms of Brexit. Later in the day Fico will meet other prime ministers and select members of EP factions, which the Slovak premier considers to be preparation for Wednesday's presentation to the European Parliament. "It's good to discuss some issues in greater detail because the Slovak presidency wants to offer an extraordinary initiative, namely a summit scheduled for September 16. I believe that this will be the main topic of our talks. It's good for us to have an opportunity to present our opinions and priorities also here, in the European Parliament", said Fico.
