Slovak-Chinese cooperation discussed in Beijing

Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi at a meeting in Beijing on Monday expressed their interest in the further development of mutual relations, TASR learnt from the ministry press department on the same day. Lajčák, who is running for UN Secretary-General, is currently on a working visit to the People's Republic of China. According to the ministry's press department, the development of relations should involve contacts at the political and inter-ministerial level, as well as economic cooperation, trade diversification, investments, science and research, education and culture. Apart from bilateral issues, the ministers also discussed cooperation in international organisations, the priorities of the Slovak Presidency of the Council of the EU and extended cooperation between China and the CEE countries - the so-called 16+1 platform. "I believe that the increased Chinese interest in Central Europe and the potential of the One Belt, One Road initiative will lead to further deepening of our commercial and investment relations", said Lajčák.
