Slovakia remembering its expats

Slovakia will celebrate the Day of Slovaks Living Abroad on Tuesday, July 5. The date also marks the day of Saints Cyril and Methodius. These two missionaries created the first Slavic alphabet in the ninth century and brought Christianity to Great Moravia, the first state on the territory of the now Slovak Republic. On this occasion, the Office for Slovaks living abroad organises a celebration at Janko Kráľ Park in Bratislava. This tradition started in 1993. July 5 is now honored by Slovak communities all around the world, with many holding various cultural events.
