Discontented teachers are marching in Bratislava on Friday to draw attention to the negative situation in the education system. The protest is organised by the Slovak teachers' initiative, unhappy with only a 6% hike in teachers' salaries as of September this year. The initiative claims such pay rise will not make the job of a teacher more attractive. Moreover, they emphasise, that the government is ignoring the recommendations of the OECD and European Commission. Teachers held a six week strike at the beginning of this year and are ready for another one in September if the situation does not improve.
