The Slovak government has approved Anton Šafárik to be the new director of the intelligence agency the Slovak Information Service (SIS). According to the SITA press agency, Šafárik is a nominee of the coalition Slovak National Party. President Andrej Kiska should now appoint him to his new function. The current director Ján Valko has already asked to be released from his service. Igor Cibula the chair of ex-intelligence officers doesn't think the change at the top of the SIS will have a negative impact on the Slovak presidency of the EU Council. He explained that Police and the SIS underwent long preparations; all competent people are ready and will not be replaced.
