President Kiska calls on EU’s institutions to show more empathy

Polish President Andrzej Duda and his Slovak counterpart Andrej Kiska discussed the consequences of Brexit on their countries during a meeting held in Bratislava. Slovakia takes over the presidency of the Council of the EU on Friday while Poland hosts an important NATO summit in Warsaw in two weeks. Regarding Brexit, both politicians concurred that the Visegrad Four countries (Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary) could play an important role in the search for joint European solutions. Kiska added that the EU's institutions need to show more empathy and sensitivity towards recent developments in member countries. As for the upcoming NATO summit, Kiska claimed that the alliance must respond to concerns of people in member countries in the wake of the illegal annexation of Crimea in 2014.
