The field of IT and telecommunications in Slovakia lacks around 10,000 specialists, said Slovak IT Association director Mario Lelovský on Monday. "This phenomenon, unfortunately, isn't getting better. Quite the opposite, the figure is growing," said Lelovský. Thus, Slovakia might lack around 20,000 specialists by 2020. A change would require reform in the school system. Now, specialists prefer working in the commercial sector rather than at universities for example. The reason behind the trend is, Lelovský explained, that "salaries in the IT sector are much higher than those of IT specialists in the education system."
