Poland will temporarily re-impose border controls within the inner Schengen free movement area from July 4 until August 2. The reason is upcoming NATO summit at the beginning of July and Pope Francis' visit to Poland at the World Youth Days at the end of July. The controls will be carried out at the Polish borders with Slovakia, Germany, Czech Republic, Lithuania and also in harbours and at airports. The Polish representatives stated the controls will focus on suspects and should not influence regular visitors to the country.
