Around 2,000 people gathered at SNP Square in Bratislava on Monday to call on Interior Minister Robert Kaliňák to resign for allegedly covering up tax frauds involving businessman Ladislav Bašternák. The protest was organised by the two strongest opposition parties Freedom and Solidarity and Ordinary People. Last week Ordinary People chief Igor Matovič announced that there will be a series of weekly protests set to take place for the next six months - if Kaliňák stays in office. Interior Minister will face a second no-confidence vote initiated by the opposition it three weeks on Thursday, June 30. Prime Minister Robert Fico said the activities are intentionally scheduled for the week when the Slovak presidency of the EU Council starts, and he called them pointless.
