Saturday protests in Bratislava don’t clash

Hundreds of extremists marched through Bratislava on Saturday afternoon in protest against what they called the 'liquidation of Europe and Brussels' dictate'. Besides Slovaks, there were also Czechs, Germans, Croatians and Serbs that took part in the march organized by far-right extremist Marian Magát. The event ended with an improvised trial of politicians that protesters wanted to hang. Simultaneously with this, a counter-protest took place at SNP Square. According to one of the organizers, Matej Ivančík, the anti-fascist mobilisation wanted to express that this city does not belong to extremists. Several opposition and governing coalition politicians came to support the counter-protest, including former Prime Minister Iveta Radicová, ombudsman Jana Dubovcová and Bratislava mayor Ivo Nesrovnal. The routes of the two marches did not cross, so there were no clashes between the two camps.
