"The United Nations has asked Slovakia to increase the number of its soldiers for the UN's peacekeeping operation in Cyprus," said Defence Minister Peter Gajdoš during his visit to Cyprus on Thursday. "The request is now being analysed and we'll increase the number if necessary," said Gajdoš. At the moment 159 Slovak soldiers are serving in Cyprus. The defence minister also held talks with his Cypriot counterpart Christoforos Fokaides. They discussed current defence issues, opportunities for mutual cooperation, the NATO summit in Warsaw, as well as the Slovak Presidency of the EU Council.
