Switzerland is among the global leaders in research and innovation and Slovakia could learn a lot from it, stated Slovak President Andrej Kiska after meeting his Swiss counterpart Johann N. Schneider-Ammann. The Slovak president noted that both countries are relatively small and that Slovakia is attempting to do everything possible to be export-oriented and attractive for foreign investors. He emphasized that the Slovak economy has been doing quite well recently. However, he added that one of Slovakia's disadvantages is the fact that young people graduating from universities would rather look for a good job than consider opening their own enterprises. Meanwhile, the Swiss President gave a recipe for success which lies in the combination of three things: a liberal labour market and laws, partnership with employers and the reduction of regulation, and a system of specialist education. Another important factor is the openness of markets in Europe and the world.
