Slovakia supports the peace process in Cyprus and our troops will be deployed there within peacekeeping missions for as long as necessary, Defence Minister Martin Glváč said on Thursday at a meeting with his Cypriot counterpart Fotis Fotiou. “I would like to reiterate that our position towards Cyprus hasn't changed,” asserted Glváč.
During their meeting, Fotiou – who is on an official visit to Slovakia – praised the work of Slovak troops. They have been overseeing the peacekeeping process on the island country for more than 12 years. The Cypriot politician added that the help of Slovakia’s unit along with the country's active diplomatic approach toward Cyprus is highly important.
